Incipit holds libraries of ten pieces of music, an essay about each, and one specific recording to go and hear. It is free, it has no advertising, and there is nothing in it to buy. If something is not working, write to ezrawademusic@gmail.com and a person will read it.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account and nothing to sign in to. Open the app and read.
Do I need to be online?
Not to read. Every essay is installed with the app and works on a plane, in a basement, or in airplane mode. You need a connection only if you follow the link to Spotify.
Do I need Spotify?
No. Each piece names its recording by performer and year, so you can find the same performance on any service, or on a disc. The Spotify link is there because it is quick, not because it is required.
The Spotify link does not open the app.
If Spotify is not installed the link opens the recording in your browser instead. Either way the recording is named in the essay above the link.
What does "incipit" mean?
It is Latin for "here begins". Before books had title pages a scribe simply started writing, and whatever came first became the name of the thing. The first tab of the app says so.
In what order should I read them?
The order they are in. Each piece hands you one thing to listen for, and the next one assumes you are already holding it. You can open any of them at any time from The Ten, but they are built to compound.
What does "I have met it" mean?
That you have listened to the recording, not that you have read the essay. The reading is not the work; the listening is. Marking a piece met lights it on the map and adds what it taught you to your list.
Why is there no streak, or points, or badges?
Deliberate. Streaks punish absence and produce guilt. The map only ever grows and cannot be lost.
Will there be more libraries?
Yes. Classical Music is the first. Each one is ten pieces and takes a long time to write properly, so they arrive one at a time.
IF THE APP MISBEHAVES
Two things worth trying before writing in:
- Force-quit the app and open it again.
- Reinstall it. Every essay is part of the install, so reinstalling replaces them. Be aware that it also clears your progress, because that is kept on the device and nowhere else.
If neither helps, email us. Include what you tried.
HOW TO ERASE YOUR READING
Incipit, then Settings, then "Clear my progress". It is immediate and permanent. Deleting the app does the same.
PRIVACY
The short version: the app collects nothing. No account, no email address, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking. It makes no network requests of its own. What you have read stays on your device and we never receive it. The full privacy policy is in the app, under Settings.
ACCESSIBILITY
The reader follows the text size set in iOS, so making type larger in Settings makes it larger here. Reduce Motion is respected. If something in the app is hard to use with the tools you rely on, please write and say so — that is worth fixing.
