Tarry is a fasting companion. Fasting is a private thing, and the app is built on that assumption. This page says exactly what stays on your phone, what reaches our server, and what we do with it — in plain terms, without the usual hedging.
Everything you write. Journal entries, closing reflections, and the intention you set when you begin a fast are stored only on your phone, in the app's local database. They are not uploaded, not synced, not backed up to our server, and not readable by us or by anyone else. There is no server-side copy to subpoena, sell, leak, or hand over.
This is enforced in the code, not merely promised in this document: an automated check runs on every change to Tarry and fails the build if the networking layer so much as references a journal entry.
One honest exception. If you have iCloud Backup switched on, your iPhone backs up the apps on it, and that backup includes Tarry's local database — journals and all. That backup lives in your Apple account, encrypted by Apple, and we have no access to it whatsoever. We mention it because "it never leaves your device" would otherwise be slightly untrue, and you can turn Tarry off individually in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage → Backups if you would rather it did not.
Tarry needs an account so that a fast survives a new phone and so you can keep a fast alongside people you invite. That means some data does reach our server.

That is the complete list. Notably absent: anything you wrote, your location, your contacts, your device identifiers, and any record of what you read in the app.
Our server runs on Supabase, which stores the account and fast records described above on our behalf and does nothing else with them.
Scripture text is provided by Crossway under licence, fetched through our own server. Your requests for passages pass through our server rather than going to Crossway directly, and we do not keep a log of which passages you read.
If you allow them, Tarry schedules reminders on your phone itself. They are local notifications: no push service is involved, no device token is registered, and nothing about your fast is sent anywhere in order to remind you of it.
You can delete your account from inside the app, under Settings. It removes your account and every fast record from our server. Deleting the app from your phone removes the local database, journals included.
Tarry is rated 12+ and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the data we hold about you, correct it, or have it erased. The in-app deletion does the last of those immediately; for anything else, write to us and we will answer.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update this page and the date at the top. The local-only rule for what you write is not something we intend ever to change; it is the reason the app is built the way it is.
